PROBLEMS
120 MWH of energy are consumed on average annually in the U.S. for outdoor lighting, which is enough to meet the total electricity demand of New York City for two years.
35% of light is wasted by poorly-aimed outdoor lighting.
21 MILLION tons of CO2 are emitted to power residential outdoor lighting in the U.S., which would require planting 875 million trees each year to offset.
LIGHT POLLUTION which refers to the inappropriate or excessive use of artificial light, can cause environmental issues such as glare, skyglow, light trespass, and clutter.

DESIGN CONCEPT
ENERGY EFFICIENCY
Introducing motion sensors and light-sensitive dimmers to make streetlights more intelligent and avoid unnecessary waste of energy.
SMALLER & DIMMER
Reducing the size of the streetlight can make it easier to move to solve the problem of uneven illumination. Lowering the lighting output so that it only emits just enough light to illuminate.
RENEWABLE ENERGY
Using cleaner sources of energy to power streetlights will bring the benefits of reduced carbon emissions and lower energy costs.
SOLAR-POWERED
The solar panel located on the back of DELTA can harness sunlight to power the device. The advantages of the solar panel lie in its durability, ease of operation, and high efficiency.
BATTERY-BACKED
For weather conditions like rain or snow, DELTA can still provide illumination by drawing from the stored power in its battery.
OPTIMAL ANGLE
The angle between the solar panel and the ground is 41 degrees, which is the optimal angle for the New York region all year round to collect solar energy at the highest efficiency.
LIGHT-SENSITIVE DIMMER
The light-sensitive dimmer, located beneath the front glass cover of DELTA, is able to detect external light levels and adjust the brightness of the LED light accordingly.
INTELLIGENT ON/OFF
DELTA automatically turns off when ambient light levels are sufficient and turns on when light levels are
low. This makes it a more intelligent option compared to manual or timed on/off.
SUSTAINABLE CUSTOMIZATION
DELTA's housings are available in various colors to match different usage environments. The housing can also be recycled plastic to further enhance its sustainability.
MOTION-ACTIVATED
The motion sensor of DELTA can detect movements within a 10-foot range and activate the front LED light to provide road illumination for pedestrians.
DISTANCE NAVIGATION
In low-light or nighttime conditions, the side LED light emits a dim light to guide people in the distance, even if the front LED light is not activated due to the absence of pedestrians.
